Marker #6: Brookside Berry Bush
History of the Lake Arrowhead Community in the San Bernardino Mountain Range

Native American tribes, including the Paiute, Mojave and Serrano sought refuge in the high country during the hot summer months. They often followed the ripening of various edible plants, including seeds, nuts and berries.

This berry bush produces edible fruit for humans, and also serves our local population of pollinators. If you sit awhile and watch closely, you may count dozens if not hundreds of industrious bees hard at work.

Turn back toward the main lawn and stop at Marker #7 to learn about Lake Arrowhead’s Hollywood star-turns.
